There are a
total of four performance levels to choose from within the new Lexus NX and
Lexus NX Hybrid family of SUVs. The base kit is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder
engine developing 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, while efficiency
with this setup clocks in at 26 mpg city and 33 mpg city with front-wheel
drive. Meanwhile, all-wheel drive variants offer 25 mpg city and 32 mpg
highway, a modest dropoff for the addition of all-wheel drive
confidence.
Stepping
into the Lexus NX350 earns you a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder setup
churning out 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque through an all-wheel
drive system. Luxury focused models give you 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway,
while the F-Sport trim delivers 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, albeit with
improved performance and throttle response.
Moving onto
the Lexus NX Hybrid brings us the NX350h, sporting a 2.5-liter four-cylinder
engine and electric motor that combine for 239 total horsepower. All-wheel
drive is the only choice here, and you'll get 41 mpg city and 37 mpg on the
open road with the combination beneath you.
Finally,
the Lexus NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid is both the most powerful and most efficient
version of the NX you can take home. Combining the 2.5-liter four-cylinder with
a parallel electric motor gives you a total of 302 horsepower, while 36 mpg combined
and 84 MPG-e ensure you'll be saving at the pump. You'll even enjoy 37 miles of
electric-only range to keep you away from the pump altogether on your short
commutes, and a plug in at any of our Bay Area EV charging stations will top up
your battery for the return trip.
